his name is Justin
The door bell rang and I thought the mail man came early today.
A stranger stood there trying to be friendly. There were a few studs on his ears and a small star tattoo right under his left ear. It's obvious that he's a smoker.
He told me he needed help to achieve his dream, namely a trip to Rome. He proceeded to show me the paper in his hand, and asked if I wanted to subscribe to any magazine so that he can earn enough point to qualify for a travel contest and the $2000 top prize. I asked him a couple of questions and he does not want to waste his time and walked away.
I dug into my purse, took my dog Jack and walked around the neighborhood in search for him. I saw him came out of a junction and called out his name. He turned around with a puzzled look on his face.
"Any luck this morning?"
"No. Nobody wants to help me."
We stood by the road and he stooped down to pat Jack.
"I had been there."
He looked up, surprised by what I said.
"I was in Europe, went door to door trying to sell books. Most of the time people just slammed the door at my face." We shared a laugh with that thought.
I did it for a different reason though and asked if he had heard about Jesus. He nodded.
"I like people with dream." I said, "I've visited many countries and places, it was people that matter at the end of the day." I told him that someday he may end up in Rome and pressed a few bucks into his hand.
"I want you to know that God loves you and you can call out to Him anytime." It was obvious that he did not know what to do with me.
"God said I have loved you with an everlasting love, I have drawn you with loving-kindness. "I quoted Jeremiah 31:3. "I want you to remember that."
As we parted, he thanked me and I gave him a hug - what was I thinking?!!
He matters to God.
